Beware of Puppy Scammers Pretending to Be Heritage Hill Yorkies.
At Heritage Hill Yorkies, our greatest joy is matching healthy, well-loved puppies with wonderful families. Unfortunately, we’ve recently seen an increase in scammers stealing our photos, videos, and even our name to trick people into sending money for puppies that don’t exist.
If you’ve commented on one of our Facebook or Instagram posts, please read this carefully.
How the Scam Works 💰
Scammers watch our social media pages and look for people who comment things like:
• “I’m interested!”
• “How much?”
• “I’d love one!”
• “Please message me.”
They then create fake accounts pretending to be Heritage Hill Yorkies—or accounts with names that look very similar—and contact you privately.
They often:
• Steal our puppy photos and videos.
• Copy our descriptions word for word.
• Claim they have puppies available immediately.
• Offer prices that seem too good to be true.
• Pressure buyers to send deposits quickly through payment apps.
These scammers have absolutely no connection to Heritage Hill Yorkies.
How to Know It’s Really Us
When you work with Heritage Hill Yorkies:
• We will never contact you from a fake or newly created social media account. My personal page and my business page are both Meta verified so always check for the blue checkmark next to my name.
• We have an established application process.
• We encourage you to speak with us directly.
• We are happy to answer questions and verify our identity.
• We never pressure families into making rushed decisions. I truly believe each, and every puppy will go to the family they were destined to be with… You will never get pressure from me to buy.

Remember: If the Price Seems Too Good to Be True It Usually Is … and my puppies are not cheap. If anyone ever offers you a puppy at a very inexpensive price for a Yorkie or any breed that is a major red flag. Either they are a scammer or they are a puppy mill not investing the correct amount of money into raising their mamas and puppies at the highest quality of care.
Quality, health-tested, responsibly raised puppies require an incredible amount of time, veterinary care, nutrition, socialization, and love.
Scammers know that offering a puppy for thousands less than a reputable breeder charges is tempting. Their goal is simple: collect your money and disappear. And unfortunately I have talked to so many people that end up buying a puppy from me after they have sent hundreds if not thousands of dollars to a scam. This is why there are so many scammers. It’s lucrative but evil. 😈
Protect Yourself
Before sending any money:
✅ Verify you’re communicating with our official Heritage Hill Yorkies accounts.
✅ Visit our official website before making any payment.
✅ Ask for a phone call if you’re unsure.
✅ Never send money simply because someone messaged you after you commented on social media.
✅ Report fake accounts pretending to be Heritage Hill Yorkies.
A Frustrating Reality on Facebook
One of the most frustrating parts of this problem is that many of the fake accounts remain active for weeks or even months, even after being reported multiple times by breeders and followers.
At the same time, Facebook’s systems sometimes restrict legitimate breeders from using Messenger to answer basic questions like pricing or availability. Many reputable breeders have experienced messaging limitations (me being one of them) or had conversations flagged simply for discussing puppy prices with interested families. ( I am no longer allowed to have conversations through private messenger about my puppies per Facebook.)
This creates a difficult double standard. Honest breeders trying to communicate transparently with potential families may find themselves restricted, while scam accounts continue to message hundreds of people using stolen photos and fake identities.
The result is confusion for puppy buyers. Families may receive messages from multiple accounts claiming to represent the same breeder, making it difficult to know who is genuine.
We hope social media platforms continue improving their systems to better protect consumers by removing fraudulent accounts more quickly while allowing legitimate businesses to communicate with prospective customers.
Until then, we encourage everyone to be cautious and verify that they’re speaking with me (Kortni Kubicina) before sending money or sharing personal information. A few extra minutes spent verifying who you’re talking to can prevent the disappointment and financial loss that so many families have unfortunately experienced.
What to Do If You Encounter a Scammer
If you come across someone pretending to be Heritage Hill Yorkies, you can help protect other families by taking a few simple steps.
• Report the account to Facebook or the social media platform where you found it.
• Take screenshots of the profile, messages, prices, and any payment requests before the account disappears. These screenshots are valuable evidence.
• Notify Heritage Hill Yorkies as soon as possible. Please send us the screenshots so we’re aware of the fake account and can warn other families.
One challenge we face is that scammers will often block our official Heritage Hill Yorkies accounts, making it impossible for us to see or report their fraudulent pages ourselves. While we may not be able to view the fake account, other people still can—which is why your reports and screenshots are so important.
Our Deposit Process
To help protect our families, Heritage Hill Yorkies follows a consistent process for every puppy placement.
• We never accept a deposit until a puppy application has been submitted and approved.
• We never ask for payment through a random facebook message or comment.
• Once your application has been reviewed and you’ve been offered a puppy, we will send an official invoice that matches our business information.
• Before sending any money, make sure the invoice, business name, contact information, and correspondence all match our official Heritage Hill Yorkies.
If anyone asks you to send money before you’ve completed a puppy application or without receiving an official invoice from Heritage Hill Yorkies, it is not us.
Our goal is to make every adoption process transparent, secure, and enjoyable. We’d much rather answer extra questions than have a family become the victim of a scam.
